on March 23, 2014Hi Adrian.
Seems to me that compromise is almost always with us...and this is in my view a great example. The texture works well with the game the shapes are playing, the light in the loft draws me back. The lean to and telegraph poles save it from possible criticism of symmetry.
I could ramble but suffice it to say, this is an excellent image.

on March 10, 2014Adrian, without reading your comets first... This is stunning. And my second thought was.. "cool grass in the doorway" - so to each his own. I have a 5% wish that I could see the full leaning post on the bottom left, but don't know what else might have been there. One of my favs since this challenge started.

on March 9, 2014A couple of comments about the left/right angles. It was easy to try those because I was on a road;-) The "move left" shot is disappointing - it adds a lot of "blah" and the fence looses its impact. Also the square of light in the upstairs loses its cool "one quarter" proportion. On the other hand, moving to the right produces a fantastic shot - removing the power poles as G. says, and showing cool roof detail. That was my second favorite and I almost submitted that one. In the end I chose this shot, mostly because I think I handled the post-processing much better with this one. Thanks for all the comments

on March 9, 2014I like this photos Adrian. The contrast is great and the barn just seems to captivate you. I like that the fence line is off to the left a bit, although normally I would agree with Gerald, in this case because it draws your eye back to the center if you try to drift left. I like everything about this one.

on March 9, 2014The B+W and the sky really work with this image. Thanks for stating that this was shot on a non-photo outing, as that is situation I am try to work through – missed opportunities. What if, you would have moved left or right for this shot. Left would have created a leading line with the fence, drawing you too the barn. Right, you may have eliminated the power lines. Either way may have moved the grass enough out of the doorway so that it is less prominent, and add more of a 3-D view of the barn. Lots of patterns and lines!
