on February 17, 2014Reminds me of one of your great tree photos at the workshop. Love the texture and interplay between the bark and rock wall.

on February 17, 2014Thanks to both of you for the comments.
To Ricky's point - yes - I shot the first 2 or 3 frames with the tree slightly to the right of this one, which was the last frame. More off-center would have been my normal preference as well! You are right, they both work, but to go against my normal tendency, I posted this one instead. After the initial preference for the tree shifted more to the right, the visual masses of the 3 areas of wall seemed a bit more balanced in this one. Also there's a 'bit' more going in the top right corner of this one, with the small black twig touching the right edge of the frame.

on February 16, 2014Excellent shot here Joaquin. Although it is a relatively simple image it is very dramatic and seems to be telling some sort of story. Love the depth of the detail in the bark and the wall behind it with the varied shades of stones.

on February 15, 2014I'm just loving the images this week! Joaquin, well seen! If it were me I would have composed the tree slightly right of where it is, but that's a personal choice - nothing wrong with yours. Of course, I don't know if there was anything to the left that needed to stay clear of the composition. The textures are really appealing to me. yay
