Well-balanced composition that I like a lot. Interesting to see how the long exposure affects the reflection on the water. I wonder if a slightly different camera position would have kept some of the flowers from getting lost in the brighter reflection on the water?

Well that's even more impressive! Well done. I love my ND filters (I have 10, 6, and 3 stop set) and really enjoy taking Long Exposures with them. I think you'll have fun too.

Thanks for the comments. I donot have any ND filters but I will get some! I have just been fiddiling with the dials and writing down the settings.

Jude - we can get together to explore this more - maybe when the colors change (FYI everyone, Jude and I are neighbors in La Veta). I particularly like the motion blur of the reeds in the foreground and ditto what Adrian says.

Hi Judith - did you have any ND filters on the lens, or are you making long exposures by fiddling the apperture & shutter speed?

In any case this is a pretty awesome image - I love it. For composition I give it full marks. And I love the effect of the sharp peak of the mountain being blurred in the reflection. And I love the two beautiful trees on the far shore that are nicely placed just below the horizon of the mountain range.

If anyone can give me the secret formula for choosing the shutter speed as to the lightness or darkness of the subject - I would be very glad.

This was a hard assignment for me. I spent two hours up at the lake. The coyotes started to howl and I was still fiddling with the dials!
