on November 16, 2014I was in Hong Kong the week it was turned over to China. There was a military prescense everywhere. Same with the Island of Macau. Very sad indeed.

on November 16, 2014A little stretched this week as I begun a vacation to Indochina. During a three day stop over in Hong Kong we visited the Occupy Hong Kong Central tent village. One of the protesters explained to us the protest is against the Chinese government who are "changing" the terms of their agreement and that while elections will continue, the choices will be limited to three candidates chosen by the Chinese government. This is a decay of democratic freedoms in Hong Kong, and while the protestors perhaps will not succeed today, they are hoping they will build a will for democracy and quietly fight against the removal of their freedoms.
