Ricky, the flash was off camera reflecting into an umbrella. The umbrella was aimed onto my back. You are correct...the light making the lines was not an accident. As for my position, I tried various ways to places in the image...closer to the camera etc. the only place that I liked was further away from the camera with my legs parallel to the light.
Adrian and Kent - thanks for the feedback.

Michelle - we all are learning - was the flash on the camera - or off to the side highlighting you? The grass doesn't looked like a flash is on it. I also really like this because we are 'peeking' into a scene and not fully getting to be present in the moment. The highlight of light creating the line on the landscape is very effective and pulls us to you - which strengthens the composition. Not an accident I'm sure.

I like how the combination of sunlight and shadow on the grass draw me in. Well done with the flash, something I'm just beginning to learn about.

Very good job with the subtle flash - congrats.

For this week's challenge, I wanted to put into practice the skills I learned in the creative portraiture workshop that I attended this week http://www.davebrosha.com/#!/p/advanced-creative-po. Since I did not have a volunteer, I took a self-portrait watching the sun setting. I wanted to be lit enough for me to be seen without it being obvious that I was lit by a flash.
